Hal O' the Wynd - Dyna Drive developed for 4mm steam - Part 1
Issue 28 (1989)
p.19
4mm/P4
As MRJ readers will know, Chris Pendlenton takes a technician's approach to his superb P4 models, devising his own sometimes complex solutions and applying them on carefully-considered engineering principles with a high degree of accuracy and skill. Who better, then, to be given the task of fitting the much discussed Dyna Drive system - previously only fitted with any degree of success to diesels - in a steamer, the Peppercorn A1? Dyna Drive's manufacturers say that Chris, working on MRJ's commission, has corrected the problems, opening the way for new components which are already in production. This, indeed, is modelling at the forward frontier - but it contains lessons for everyone.
Chris builds the Proscale A1 kit. Includes a reproduction of works drawings of A1. Continued in issue 29.
